For the last few weeks I have been pushing a new social network called “Nextdoor” on the Facebook page, in email, and in conversation. Nextdoor isn’t “just another social network”. Nextdoor is a social network built from the ground up with neighborhoods like Almond Glen in mind. Nextdoor links neighbors together and helps neighborhoods connect.
The system is simple. A neighbor signs up for the service by going to the website or clicking on a provided link. Once on the site you then enter your basic information. The website then attempts to verify who you are and link you to your neighborhood. If the system can’t verify you, a neighborhood moderator will attempt to verify who you are and allow you access to the neighborhood page.
Many of our neighbors are already on Facebook, so why are we encouraging you to start using Nextdoor? Separation of your Facebook profile and your neighborhood contacts. Easier organization of neighborhood information. Urgent alerts for crimes and other emergencies. Links to other neighborhoods in our area (expanded reach for urgent alerts and classifieds)
If you haven’t signed up yet, please consider joining today. We have worked directly with the Nextdoor.com support team to get our neighborhood map updated and completed before any of the other neighborhoods in our area. Now that Nextdoor is working we will avoid conducting HOA specific business on the Almond Glen Friends Facebook page.
